Guidelines for Demonstration Farmers Market at the Champlain Valley Fair’s Ware Building
Arrival & Set Up
The hours of the Champlain Valley Fair are 10am to 9pm. We expect all vendors to be set up by doors opening on the first day they are scheduled to participate, and to clean up after the last day they participate so that a new vendor can take over the vacated space.

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture will provide vendors with passes in order to enter the fair grounds.
Everyone will receive an 8-foot table. Please bring your own tablecloth and display.
Sales
Under agreement with the Champlain Valley Fair, vendors can sell only items that do not conflict with standing food contracts elsewhere on the fairgrounds. In general, the products that can be sold are:
- Foods for consumption off of the fairgrounds
- Foods that do not overlap with common fair foods – for example, fresh produce is allowed, cookies and chocolates are not
- Non-food items.
- Samples may be given away without restriction.
- Vendors can provide promotional materials, like coupons, for any type of food or drink.
The Farmers’ Market at the Champlain Valley Fair Ware Building is intended to be an educational effort in addition to a sales opportunity. We encourage all vendors to bring materials advertising both their business / organization and local food sales outlets in general. Directions to Champlain Valley Fair & Ware Building
The Champlain Valley Fair takes place at the Champlain Exposition in Essex Junction. Detailed directions and maps are available online at: http://cvexpo.org/directions.aspx
The Ware Building is the first building on your left as you enter Yellow Gate A on Pearl Street. Gate A is a pedestrian only gate. Enter through the main gate take an immediate right after entering the gate. Two parking spaces will be available for loading and unloading behind the barn and hand carts will be available for moving product to the building.
Other Opportunities
The Ware Building at the Champlain Valley Fair houses many opportunities for fairgoers to learn about Vermont agriculture. In addition to the farmers’ market, we offer:
- Cooking Demonstrations in a fully equipped kitchen
- Children’s Education in the “barnyard”
- Spirits Villa, including cheese pairings and snacks
